At the airport: You can take two railway lines:

Cheap, but slow - standard railway S7 direction: "Wien Floridsdorf" to the station "Wien Mitte". An elevator takes you directly from the arrival hall to the platform. Follow this sign:

More expensive and 8 minutes faster - The City Airport Train CAT also takes you to the station "Wien Mitte".

At Wien Mitte, take Underground U4, direction "Hütteldorf", 2 stops to "Karlsplatz"

By Train:

Vienna has three main train stations, Hauptbahnhof, Westbahnhof and Wien Meidling.

At the Hauptbahnhof:
Enter the Underground station Hauptbahnhof (Südtirolerplatz) and take Underground U1, direction “Leopoldau”, 2 stops to “Karlsplatz”.

At the Westbahnhof:
Enter the Underground station Westbahnhof and take Underground U3, direction “Simmering”, 5 stops to “Stephansplatz”, where you have to change to Underground U1, direction “Reumannplatz”, 1 stop to “Karlsplatz”.
Many trains from the west also stop at Wien Hütteldorf, from where you can take Underground U4 directly to Karlsplatz.

At the Wien Meidling:
When coming from the south, leave the platform at the exit at the rear side of the train. Take Underground U6,direction “Floridsdorf”, 2 stops to "Längenfeldgasse". There, on the other side of the platform, get into Underground U4, direction “Heiligenstadt” to “Karlsplatz” (4 stops).

Karlsplatz ist the largest Underground station in Wien and close to the Vienna University of Technology (TU). Take the escalators leading to “Karlsplatz” and leave the Underground station at exit “Wiedner Hauptstraße”. On the Wiedner Hauptstraße, the first building you pass is the library of the TU (with a huge stone bird at its corner); our institute is in the yellow physics and mathematics building behind (“Freihaus”, a huge green building). Take the elevators in “Turm B” (yellow) to the 8th floor, where you will find the secretariate of our institute (turn left twice after leaving the elevator and ring at the entrance door).
